At least 22 peaple were killed and over 40 injured some of them seriously, in a road accident in mountainous Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir today.
According to police sources, the accident occurred when a bus on its way from Reasi town to Bukkle rolled down into deep gorge in Bidda area on Jyotipuram road.
Fifteen people were killed on the spot while seven others succumbed to injuries later in the hospital or on the way to . Two helicopters were pressed into service to fetch the seriously injured to GMC hospital in Jammu.
Meanwhile in another road accident in Jamola area adjoining Rajouri district three people including a woman and two children were killed on spot while at least 10 others were injured today.
The difficult mountainous terrain and rash driving are usual reasons for tragic accidents in the area.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over loss of lives in a road mishap in Reasi in Jammu and Kashmir.
In a tweet, Mr Modi said, his thoughts are with the families of those who lost their loved ones in the unfortunate accident. Mr Modi said, his prayers are with the injured.
