Prime Minister Narendra Modi today embarked on a four nation tour to Germany, Spain, Russia and France. During his 6-day visit to Germany, Spain, Russia and France, the Prime Minister will meet the leadership of these countries and discuss issues of mutual interest.Economic cooperation, trade and investments will be among the issues that would be high on agenda.
In the first leg, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Berlin on May 29.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel will host the Prime Minister at her official Meseberg Country Retreat where the two leaders would discuss issues of mutual interest.
On May 30, the two leaders will hold the 4th India-Germany Intergovernmental Consultations. PM Modi and Chancellor Merkel would also be jointly addressing a Business Event where top CEOs from both the sides would be present.
Prime Minister Modi will also pay a courtesy call on President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier. India and Germany are strategic partners and Prime Minister’s visit to that country will give a further boost to this special relationship.
On May 31, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Spain where he will hold consultations with Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy and discuss bilateral and other issues of mutual interest. As part of the programme, PM Modi would be calling on King Felipe VI of Spain. He would also have a Round-Table interaction with leading Spanish business leaders who are keen to invest in India.
Prime Minister Modi will be in Russia on 1st and 2nd June. On June 1, he will participate in the 18th India-Russia Annual Summit in St. Petersburg with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. It is the first time that the Annual Summit will be held in Russia outside Moscow.
Following the Summit, on June 2, Prime Minister Modi will participate, also for the first time, in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum as Guest of Honour.
In the last leg of his visit, Prime Minister Modi will visit Paris. He will hold official talks with French President Emmanuel Macron on June 3 and discuss issues of mutual interest with a view to further strengthen India-France strategic ties. This will be the first meeting of the two leaders. Macron was elected French President in the recently held Presidential polls.
In a series of messages on social Media platform yesterday, the Prime Minister hoped that this visit will open a new chapter in bilateral relations with Germany and further deepen strategic partnership.
Mr Modi said, India will seek active participation of Spanish industry in various Indian projects including infrastructure, smart cities, digital economy, renewable energy, defence and tourism. Mr. Modi also expressed his commitment to strengthening and advancing India’s multi faceted partnership with France which is India’s 9th largest investment partner.
The Prime Minister further said, he is looking forward to visit St.Petersburg in this special year as India and Russia celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
