Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday released a book Matoshree authored by Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan. The book covers the life and times of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar.
After the release of the book, a play based on the book was staged in Balayogi Auditorium at Parliament House premises.
The play ‘Matoshree’ was divided in fifteen scenes wherein the author Mahajan has, with great sensitivity and understanding depicted the struggles, predicaments and qualities of Devi Ahilyabai Holkar right from the time when she came in as daughter-in-law of Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar.
The play was a unique blend of all the elements of theatre, which not only made the play a visual delight for the viewers but also inspired the artists and performers with its intrinsic message.
The play was organized by Avirat and was directed by Shri Rajan Deshmukh. Established in 1976,Avirat, Indore is active in Hindi and Marathi drama presentations on stage. The group has made some outstanding theatre performances on varied themes and genres during the last forty years.
