At the G20 Labour Summit in Patna, the Five Task forces related to Universal Social Security, International Migration, Women workers, Skill Development and other issues submitted their report in the presence of past, present and future Chairmen of Troika countries comprising Indonesia, India and Brazil.
On the inaugural day of Labour 20 (L20) Summit, several issues of labour reforms, grievances and employability were discussed by the delegations of G-20 countries and other Eight guest countries. During the discussions, deliberations and brainstorming sessions, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on workers of unorganized sectors was raised by several delegates.
The Chairman of the L 20 group Hiranmay Pandya said the issues which are being discussed will become the voice of the whole world, especially on welfare and social security issues of the informal sector and women workers. Earlier, the Governor of Bihar Rajendra Viswanath Arlekar inaugurated the Summit. He appealed to trade union leaders, academia, experts and stakeholders in the government to protect the human rights of the workers and underprivileged groups by addressing their grievances.
AIR correspondent reports that the two-day Summit of Labour-20 began in Patna with resolution of Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam, One Earth, One Family and One Future. The experts and trade union leaders also shared their best practices and experience on social security and the welfare of unorganized sector workers during discussions. The special emphasis was on the Universalisation of social security in its different forms.
On the government side, the Union Labour Secretary Arti Ahuja presented the holistic idea of social security being adopted in the country. The Secretary shared the initiatives like e-Shram card, labour reforms and portability of social schemes by the Government. Several bilateral and multilateral meetings will also be held by the delegations of G-20 countries.
