Enactus Kirori Mal College, an international students-run non-profit organization, is focusing on empowering under-served communities through social entrepreneurship and has several impactful through which it is helping such people.  These sustainable business models attempt to create a meaningful impact in the lives of beneficiaries while enabling its members to be future leaders.

One of its projects, Syahi, has helped save around 12000 litres of water and avoids 125 kgs of carbon emission as it takes care of plastic pen disposal by offering customizable pens made from up cycled paper with a plantable seed produced by a community of underprivileged women. In fact, this initiative helped it receive letters of recognition appreciating its work from Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Krishi Vigyan Kendra. It has been able to plant around 6000 saplings through the use of seeds attached with Syahi pens as well as help provide a means of livelihood to over 12 women entrepreneurs.

Another of its projects, JanBhoomi, aims to tackle land degradation and waste management through initiatives like Terracotta Home composters. Its beneficiaries comprise a marginalized community based in a potter’s village in west Delhi. In the past the organization collaborated with the Haryana government and set up vermicompost pits in over 75 villages of Palwal, Haryana. This encouraged the farmers to switch from chemical fertilizers to organic compost.

The project Dor has enabled migrant women from Bihar and Jharkhand residing in Delhi to attain financial independence by producing neo-ethnic products ranging from scarves to dupattas, t-shirts, while also reviving the dying art form of tie and dye. It’s worth mentioning here that all the revenue generated directly through these projects goes to the community.
