Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, led by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, met Goa Governor Mridula Sinha today with letters of support and staked claim to form the government in the state.
Mr Parrikar with 13 BJP MLAs, 3 MGP MLAs, 3 Goa Forward Party MLAs, 2 other Independent MLAs met the Governor and staked claim.
Addressing media in Goa, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said Manohar Parrikar will tender his resignation as Defence Minister before becoming Chief Minister.
After the BJP legislature party meet in Panaji today, party MLA Michael Lobo had said, BJP MLAs have passed a resolution seeking Party president Amit Shah’s nod to elect Parrikar as state legislature party leader.
Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, MGP, Sudin Dhavalikar had also said that his party is ready to extend support to BJP in Goa if Mr Parrikar is the leader.
BJP to form govt in Manipur with NPP, NPF & LJP support: Ram Madhav
BJP today said it will approach Manipur Governor Najma Heptulla to request her to invite BJP, NPP and LJP to form government in Manipur. This was stated by party General Secretary In-Charge of Manipur, Ram Madhav. He said, BJP has the support required to form government in the State and the party will prove it on the floor of the House.
Our correspondent reports, Naga People’s Front and Lok Janshakti Party have already said that they will support a non-Congress coalition Government in the state. National People’s Party (NPP) President Conard Sangma also told mediapersons today that being an ally of the National Democratic Alliance at the Centre, the party is going to support BJP in forming a non-Congress government in the state.
On the other hand, Congress Committee spokesperson Kh. Debvrata said that the party is contacting non-BJP parties and will surely form the next government in the state.
