At least Seven labourers were killed and four others injured in a blast at Raspahari hill area of Sonbhdara district in Uttar Pradesh, Thursday afternoon.
According to reports the incident occurred near an explosive store room where labour were also sitting and preparing for some work. According to police Gelatin sticks was stored in that room for blasting work at the hill.
Extracting stone from hill, blasting activities are very common in hill areas of sonbhadra for many areas. Although the blasting activities are normal component for miners but report says that on many occasion mine owners defy safety norms and labourers are compel to work in harsh conditions.
Today’s incident remind another incident which occurred four years before in Sonbhdara district a part of hill fell on labourers after blasting and 10 labourers had lost their lives.
Though exact cause of today’s incident still not clear but initial report says that there were some mishandling by laboures near the explosive zone .
Some report says that it is also possible that their mobile phone ignited some spark which led to this tragic accident .
