On National Sports Day, the 13th Inter School Cross Country Championship was organized by the Society for Sports and Cultural Advancement at the Noida Stadium on Thursday. In this competition, Jigisha Gupta of Summerville School Greater Noida and Aryavrit Kashyap of Vishwabharati Public School were given the champion’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs 2100 each. The race was inaugurated by N.K. Agarwal Member Tribunal (Retired) Commercial Tax by showing the green flag. While OSD Sports Mahendra Prasad and DGM Vijay Rawal of Noida Authority gave prizes to the winning players.

In the championship, a 2 km race was held for girls, in which Jigisha Gupta stood first. While Mohini Yadav and Pihu Sharma of Mahamaya Girls Inter College stood second and third respectively. In the 4 km race for boys, Aryavrit Kashyap of Vishwabharati Public School was first, Aryan Chauhan second and Udit Singh third. Players ranked fourth to tenth in both categories were also awarded incentive prizes.

Subhash Agarwal, President of Society for Sports and Cultural Advancement, said that Mahamaya Balika Inter College won the championship trophy for the 13th consecutive year in the girls category. Among the top 10 players in the girls category, 7 players were from Mahamaya Balika Inter College. The team of Savitribai Phule Inter College was in second place. While Vishwabharati Public School and Cambridge School Greater Noida were given the third place trophy.

The organization’s sports-coordinator Ashok Saini said that Vishwabharati Public School won the championship trophy for the 12th consecutive year in the boys category. Its 4 players were included in the top ten. The second position trophy was given to Cambridge School Greater Noida and the third place trophy was given to Panchsheel Balika Inter College. In this ceremony, Agra Consumer Forum member Manju Sharma, Lions Club Noida president Narendra Kuchhal and secretary Leena Chauhan also gave prizes to the children.

This time around 400 players from 38 schools of Noida-Greater Noida participated in this ceremony. Like every time, this time also the competition was completely free. Apart from the winning players, the rest of the players were also given participation certificates and refreshments by the organization. On this occasion, Rajeshwari Tyagarajan, Vimlesh Sharma, Shweta Tyagi, Kanchan Srivastava, Dinesh Bhardwaj, PK Gupta, Ram Avtar Shastri, Man Singh Chauhan, Umesh Kumar, Kushal Sharma, Ankita, Sushma and Nishant were present.
