The Board of Directors of the Association of Indian Muslims of America (AIM), representing a very large population of Muslim expatriates from India who live in United States of America has released a statement expressing deep sadness and anger at the events in India last week. Last week two prominent national level Hindu leaders and spokesmen of the ruling BJP party, that is ruling India for the last 8 years and about a dozen states in north India, made very insulting and degrading comments describing prophet Mohammad as a child molester who married one of his wives when she was 6 years old. After making these atrocious comments in a national TV event these two BJP party leaders repeated them and circulated them through twitter and other social media. No responsible leader of te BJP party tried to prevent these awful incidents.
When Muslims in the city of Kanpur held a rally to protest against this atrocious event, many BJP party members assisted by the police force attacked them in their houses and arrested over 100 of them.
In the last one week Muslim Indians in many cities in India and thegovernments of over two dozen countries with Muslim majority population, have protested against the miscreants and the Indian government for not taking action against the culprits for spreading hate against 2 billion Muslims worldwide, their religion and their prophet.
In the last several years many violent members of the Hindu supremacist BJP party have carried out many violent attacks on many Muslim community people in many cities; they have destroyed their houses, shops, schools, mosques etc In the Muslim holy month of Ramadan these Hindu militant goons attacked many mosques and prevented a large number of Muslims from praying. While most Hindus in India are peaceful people, a small number are spreading hatred and violence against people of other faiths.
Kaleem Kawaja, the Executive Director of the Association of Indian Muslims of America appealed to U S President Joe Biden to use his high office to persuade the BJP Indian government, its Prime Minister and President, to stop such large scale violence on the 200 million Indian Muslim community and from publicly insulting the basic sources of Islam, the second largest religion on earth. We request President Biden to ask the Indian government to punish the guilty marauders.
