Haryana police has booked two cops after the body of a 14-year-old Dalit boy Govinda, a resident of Devipura, Sonipat was recovered from a deserted house of his uncle in Gohana.

The boy was under detention since Wednesday for allegedly stealing four pigeons. Family members of the deceased boy has alleged that the cops have murdered their son.The agitated family members blocked the Panipat-Rohtak railway track yesterday, demanding the arrest of the two police officials. Following which the police registered the case.

The family members alleged that the police officials had demanded 5,000 rupees for Govind’s release. Later, when Gautam and his mother reached the police station, the cops reportedly informed them that Govinda had fled.

However, Sonepat superintendent of police (SP) Abhishek Garg denied the allegation saying the body has been recovered from their house, but still we have booked two police officials. He said that said the probe was on and the police were waiting for the post-mortem examination report before adding charges to the FIR.

Boy  not died in police custody at Sonepat:  CM

Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said that Dalit boy has not died in police custody at Sonepat , available information showed he had committed suicide. He said that police merely resolved the dispute at the police station and that the minor was not questioned by the police. Chief Minister said that the post-mortem report would ascertain the reality.

CM said that whosoever is responsible will not be spared and strict action will be taken. Asked about opposition charge of lawlessness in the state, Khattar asserted that there is no problem of law and order and that issue is being unnecessarily exaggerated.

According to Sonepat Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Garg, members of the ‘gadia lohar’ community had approached the Sonepat Police charging the boy with the theft of a pigeon and demanded appropriate action. When the family went to visit the boy at the station, they were told that he had fled away.
