Supreme Court today refused to entertain a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a direction to the Centre to declassify confidential documents on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
The apex court said let the Ministry of Home Affairs and Principal Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office reply to the representations on the issue.
The court told the petitioner either go to the High Court or wait for the response of the government.
The petitioner has accused various past governments of not disclosing the facts in the case and said that non-diclosure of such an information amounted to denial of fundamental right.
Sixty four secret files on Netaji were made public by West Bengal government on Friday.
Following this, Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee and Congress on Saturday demanded that Central government declassify all files relating to Netaji.
