France has said that India will play a leading role at the crucial UN climate change conference in Paris later this year. Top French climate change officials, who are on an India visit, said initiatives like creating an alliance of solar power rich countries talked about by Prime Minister Narendra Modi are the ones which will give big impulse to the December summit.
Ambassador for Climate Change Negotiations, Laurence Tubiana told reporters in New Delhi that France is already impressed with a slew of initiatives announced by the Prime Minister which include ramping up the solar energy in the country enormously. She also added, India is a very important country that is playing, has played and will play a leading role in the discussion. In December, countries would meet in Paris for the Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change to strike a new global climate deal.
