The NHRC on Monday asked its Director General (Investigation) to depute a team for conducting an on the spot inquiry into an alleged incident of firing by police and killing of five persons in village Bhajanpur, Farbisganj on June 3.

Those killed included a pregnant woman and a ten months old child. Allegedly, after shooting down the persons, the policemen also kicked one of them with boots crushing him to death finally.

The Commission took this decision after consideration of complaints filed by Ms. Brinda Karat, MP , Rajya Sabha, Dr. Mohan Lal Panda, a human rights activist, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, National President, Lok Janshakti Party who also led a delegation to meet Mr. Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Chairperson, NHRC requesting for his intervention in the matter. A delegation led by Ms Shabnam Hashmi of an NGO, SAHMAT also met the Chairperson in this connection.

Earlier the chairman of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Wajahat Habibullah has also decided to visit the village Bhajanpura himself.

The Union Women and Child Development Minister Krishna Tirath also announced that the government would soon send a team of National Commission for Women (NCW) to Bihar to probe into the killing of  woman and child in Forbesganj in Araria.
