Rural Development Ministry Committed to Making Villages Poverty-Free in 2025: Shivraj Singh Chouhan

Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said that his ministry is determined to make the villages poverty-free this year. During a meeting with the Rural Development Minister of all States and Union Territories in New Delhi today, Mr Chouhan highlighted the role of villages in nation-building, which will make India an ideal nation for the world.

He informed that 136 crore man-days have been created in MGNREGA since June last year, due to which about 54 lakh 83 thousand works have been completed in rural areas. The Central Government has also released a total of 50,467 crore rupees to the state governments.

Mr Chouhan said that 3.45 crore houses have been constructed in rural areas under the housing scheme in the last ten years. He also said that the survey work has started to identify new families and link them to the scheme.
