Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it clear that his crusade against corruption would continue and demonetization was a step in this regard.
Addressing a parivartan rally at Ridge Maidan in Shimla, he said that welfare of poor people of the country is the main aim of his government, which he has promised in his first speech after becoming Prime Minister.
Despite light showers and bad weather people in large number arrived at Ridge Maidan to listen Prime Minister Sh. Narendar Modi.
In his about 40 minutes heart touching speech Prime Minster recalled his time, he spent in Shimla and other parts of the state. Earlier in a road show he was warmly welcomed by local people.
Earlier, Prime Minister inaugurated the maiden Shimla-New Delhi flight under a government scheme to boost regional air connectivity Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN). He inaugurated the flight by flagging off the Alliance Air’s flight on Shimla-Delhi sector from Jubbar Hatti airport near Shimla this morning. Alliance Air, a subsidiary of Air India, has deployed its 42-seater ATR plane on this sector.
The prime minister also simultaneously flagged off regional connectivity scheme flights on the Kadapa-Hyderabad and Nanded-Hyderabad sectors through video-conferencing.
The government aims at connecting 45 unserved and under-served airports and make flying affordable by capping fares at 2500 rupees per seat per hour. Five airlines were awarded 128 routes under the scheme last month after a bidding process.
Mr Modi also laid foundation stone for Hydro Engineering College, which will be set up at Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh. State Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, Union Health & Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju were present on the occasion.
The Prime Minister also held a road show in Shimla.
