Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that his government was taking a series of initiatives towards women empowerment. He said, without the empowerment of women, the country could not move on the path of development.

Addressing the golden jubilee celebration of IMC Ladies’ Wing in Mumbai through video conferencing from New Delhi, Prime Minister said, women have the potential to succeed in all fields.

Mr Modi said, they are excelling and performing better day be day in every sector and from village to Silcon valley, women are leading from the front. Highlighting the benefits of schemes run for the welfare of the poor, Mr Modi said, over 2 crore women have been provided LPG cooking gas cylinder under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojna and over 70 per cent of of the beneficiaries under Mudra Yojana are women.

He said, about one crore accounts have been opened so far since the inception of Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna for girld child. Mr Modi also said that under Prdhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the government is giving priority to registration of house in the name female member of the household. The Prime Minister urged everyone to contribute to realise the dream of new India.
