Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal has constituted a Judicial Commission headed by retired Justice Zora Singh of Punjab and Haryana High Court to probe the incident of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib in Faridkot district and incidents which occurred later. Advisor to Chief Minister on national affairs and Media, Mr. Harcharan Bains said in Chandigarh that the Commission has been mandated to ascertain the causes and circumstances which led to this incident and its subsequent fallout to get into the bottom of the entire case.

In another development, Deputy Chief Minister, Sukhbir Singh Badal has directed the State police to withdraw all cases registered against people protesting against the sacrilege of the Holy Book.

In a statement issued at Chandigarh, Mr Badal also appealed to people to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Meanwhile, General Secretary of Congress, Mr. Shakeel Ahmed who visited Faridkot today demanded an inquiry into the incident by a sitting judge of Supreme Court.
