BJP last evening released the second list of 99 candidates for the Assembly elections in Bihar. Those in the list include Ajay Kumar Singh, who will contest from Raxoul Assembly seat and Dr CN Gupta from Chhapra. Names of the candidates were finalized at a meeting of BJP Central Election Committee chaired by party President Amit Shah in New Delhi yesterday evening.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Rajnath Singh are among those who attended the meeting.
The highlight of the list was the accommodation of a few members of Jitan Ram Manjhi-led Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM). Nitish Mishra and Ajay Pratap Singh, both MLAs of HAM, will fight on BJP tickets.
BJP leader JP Nadda said, the party has taken care of all sections of society, while finalising the list. Our correspondent reports that with this, the party has declared its candidates for 142 seats so far. The BJP is contesting elections on 160 seats in the State leaving rest of seats for its allies, LJP, RLSP and HAM. The election to 243-Assembly will be held in five phases beginning 12th of next month.
