Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met US Treasury Secretary Jenet L Yellen ahead of the first G20 FMCBG meeting in Bengaluru today.
The two leaders exchanged views on G20 Finance Track priorities under G20 India Presidency. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also met the Italian minister of Economy and Finance Giancarlo Giorgetti in Bengaluru today. The Italian minister extended his full support for a successful G20 India Presidency.
The G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting, FMCBG, will commence tomorrow in Bengaluru.
Before the two-day event begins, a number of side events are being organised today. In the morning, Central Bank deputies held discussion on Road to Policy Consensus on Crypto Assets and Policy Perspectives. Later, a ministerial level symposium on digital public infrastructure took place.
In the afternoon, Central Bank Deputies level discussion will be held on leveraging national payment systems to enhance cross border arrangements. Around 500 foreign delegates have gathered in Bengaluru for the first G20 FMCBG meeting comprising Finance ministers and Central Bank Governors of G20 and invitee countries and heads of various international organisations.
During the course of the event, the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold bilateral discussions with more than 10 countries, including Italy, US, Spain, Indonesia and UK, besides engaging in discussions with the representatives of international organisations.
