The Golden jubilee celebration of Bangladesh’s independence will start on December 16. Speaking to the media in Dhaka on Thursday, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that many foreign guests are expected to attend the celebrations. He said specifically two heads of state and government may join the celebration programmes.

The two day event on Dec. 16-17 will be held at the South Plaza of Bangladesh parliament Jatiya Sangsad. The Home Minister said that celebrations will also take place on December 16 at the National parade square.

Home Minister Kamal said that strict security measures around the venue will be in place for the two day event. No vehicles having gas cylinders will be allowed around the area. No makeshift or temporary shops will operate around the programme venues, said the minister.

The Minister said that a folk fair will be held between November 24-29 at the birthplace of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara, Gopalganj which Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also expected to visit.
