The death toll in Kabul suicide attack has risen to 52. More than 100 others were injured in the blast which hit a crowd waiting at a voter and ID registration centre in the Afghanistan capital today.

The Interior Ministry said, the bomber on foot blew himself up after approaching the centre which is in the Dashte Barchi area of western Kabul, where officials had been issuing identity cards as part of a process of registering voters for Parliamentary elections this year.

President Ghani issued a statement condemning the attack and said it cannot divert them from their aims or weaken this national democratic process.

The Islamic State terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, in another attack, at least five people were killed when their vehicle struck a roadside bomb in the northern Baghlan province.
