The BJP has demanded an apology from Congress Vice- President Rahul Gandhi for his remarks that RSS workers prevented him from entering in a temple in Barpeta district recently. Talking to newsmen in Guwahati today, BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Mr. Gandhi should take back his word or else BJP will launch protest against him. Refuting the allegation labelled by the Congress Vice- President, Mr. Sarma claimed that state Congress President Anjan Dutta made it clear that due to time constrain Rahul Gandhi was not able to visit Barpeta Sattra during his padyatra.

However, before wrapping up his visit, Mr. Gandhi visited the Sattra, the holy Vaishnavite cultural seat. Mr. Sarma also criticized Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi for alleging that RSS-BJP workers have prevented Rahul Gandhi from entering the sattra.
