At least six persons were killed and 21 others injured, when a State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) bus returning to Kadapa from Benguluru went off the Guvvalacheruvu ghat road and fell into the valley 200 feet below in Andhra Pradesh, .
The incident occurred at the fourth turning on the ghat road and initial reports cite brake failure as the reason.
The police and fire personnel immediately swung into action and shifted the injured to RIMS Hospital in Kadapa. Two persons, including the bus conductor, died on the spot, four others succumbed at the hospital.
Many lives were saved because of the timely action by police, who lost no time in shifting the injured to the hospital. Special party police personnel took part in the rescue operation.
