Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi tried to corner the government in the Lok Sabha today on the issue of cancellation of Mega Food Park in his Parliamentary constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.

Raising the issue during Zero Hour, Mr Gandhi said, lakhs of farmers of the area and the adjoining districts will be deprived of selling their produce to the food processors. Mr Gandhi also reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise during the last Lok Sabha election campaign to protect the interest of the farmers by transforming their lives.

He also charged the government with acting in vindictive manner which is contrary to his electoral promise. Intervening, Home Minister Rajnath Singh assured the members that the there is no question of vindictive politics on the matter. Mr Singh said, the government will not go back on its electoral promises. The Home Minister said, he will look into the issue of the food park.
