The government today assured the nation that any effort to undermine India’s territorial integrity and security will meet with an effective and forceful response. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said in Rajya Sabha that the government will do everything possible to prevent cross-border terrorism targeted against India.

The Home Minister was making a statement in the Rajya Sabha, on the terror attack in Gurdaspur district in Punjab earlier this week. Mr Singh assured the members that the government is committed to root out terrorism from the country.

He said, the preliminary analyses of GPS data indicates that the terrorists had infiltrated from Pakistan through the area near Tash in Gurdaspur district, where the Ravi river enters Pakistan. The Home Minister informed that three civilians, three Home guards and one Police Officer lost their lives in the attack.

In addition, ten civilians and seven security force personnel suffered injuries. He said, there have been five infiltration attempts in Jammu and Kashmir during the last one month, out of which four were interdicted and eight terrorists neutralized.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has dismissed India’s assertion that the terrorists who carried out attacks in Gurdaspur had infiltrated from there. Talking to reporters today, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said, Islamabad has issued condemnation of the Grudaspur terrorist attack in strongest terms and that is self explanatory. He said, pointing fingers without investigation is not a healthy trend.
