PARLIAMENTThe Lok Sabha was adjourned till tomorrow as a mark of respect to former President Dr. A.P J Abdul Kalam. As the House met for the day, Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said as the last rites of Dr Kalam were in progress, the House is adjourned for the day. She also made obituary references to three ex-members of the House and the martyrs of terrorist attack in Gurdaspur. Mrs Mahajan recalled the contribution of the late members.

In Rajya Sabha, the Home minister Rajnath Singh today made a statement on the issue of terrorism, in the wake of Monday’s terror attack in Gurdaspur in Punjab. He made the statement after the House resumed at 2.00 pm. The House was adjourned till tomorrow over uproar by opposition members’ over the statement.

Earlier, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 PM as a mark of respect to Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam. Chairman Mohd. Hamid Ansari paid glowing tributes to Dr Kalam and adjourned the House till 2 PM. He also condemned the terrorist attack in Punjab. Both the Houses observed a two -minute silence in the memory of the Gurdaspur martyrs.
