New Delhi has denied any kind of official or unofficial blockade of Nepal from the Indian side. Responding to a media query, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup said in New Delhi, the obstructions at several entry and exit points in Nepal are due to the prevailing unrest and protest in Nepalese territory.

He informed that over 5000 trucks are stranded at the entry points.

Of them, one thousand trucks were stuck at Sonauli and 3000 at Raxaul Border point.

He also said, 250 to 300 cargo vehicles are entering Nepal from some crossing points.

Mr Swarup said, the problem is a political one and its solution is to be found out by the political parties of Nepal.

Mr Swarup said, peace and stability in the Himalayan nation is India’s top most priority and Nepal must reach out to its people and address their concern so that the logjam ends.

He said, anti-India sentiment in Nepal is because of constitution making process which was not seen as a fair process by some sections of Nepalese people.

Mr Swarup said, India should not be blamed for the current situation.
