Procam International, promoters of the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon (ADHM), on Wednesday outlined arrangements that are in place for the 40,000+ participants on Sunday,
Briefing the media at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here this evening , Race Director Hugh Jones said “The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon course projects the symbol of the capital city to the outside world and it’s a great message for the runners of the half marathon. There are some changes to the course from last year which will help the runners have a better experience.”
Highlighting the importance of running, Medical Director, Max Healthcare Dr Sandeep Jain,, said, “ Running is healthy and helps in prevention of many a lifestyle related disease. With more than 40000 entries to ADHM 19, increasing awareness towards health and well-being is appreciable. . As medical partner we have made all arrangements to deal with any kind of injury which may occur during the event .”
Deputy Commissioner of Police South District Atul Thakur, asserted that “There will be close coordination between local police, traffic and the security agencies. We want to make sure that everybody has a safe ADHM and we assure our full support. We will also have 321 police personnel participating in the Police Cup.
Dr. Ramesh Kumar, medical officer of health, NDMC, expressed their team will ensure that the half marathon course remains clean after the race, “We will be working before and during the race. We will keep cleaning up the litter throughout the half marathon. There will be 200-250 people who will work from our team at 40-42 stations during the race.”
The organizers announced that on Sunday 12:00 a.m. and onwards – Entire course to be washed with an ecologically safe reagent, mixed with effluent treated water to avoid the rise of dust / settled SPM.
Between 2:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. the course will be sprayed with water jets. At ten live locations – spraying will be carried out intermittently throughout this time band.
Dust hot spots adjoining / near proximity of the course have been pre-identified and will be sprinkled twice prior to the course being opened for runners.
Race day timings:
The Airtel Delhi Half Marathon will will start from JLNS at 5.20 am and the 10K will start at Jai Singh Marg, Near Bangla Sahib) at 6:41 am The Half Marathon Elite Men and the Half Marathon Elite Women will be flagged off at 6:40 am.
The Champions with disability will be flagged off at 7:25 am followed by the Senior Citizen’s run at 7:45 am and the spirit of the city – the Great Delhi Run at 8:55 am.
