Khushboo Kumari, the first player of handball from Bihar who has been selected for National team has become a source of great inspiration for girls belong to rural areas.

Kumari an international handball player from Nawada district of Bihar has achieved the place despite all odds.She is first player of handball from Bihar who got selected for National team.

​Despite all odds Khushboo Kumari has successfully completed her sports journey and became captain of Bihar State Handball team. Talking about her sports journey Khusboo said that supportive role of her Father and Mother helped a lot to excel at such height. She says now girls from rural parts of the state particularly of Nawada are inspired from her and they have become aspiring player of handball.

​On this year’s International Women’s Day Khusboo hopes that the more talent will come forward on sports horizon which seems to be real forum of women empowerment.

In 2012, the Bihar Handball Association selected her for training at the Sports Authority of India centre in Lucknow. On returning home in 2014, Khushbu found herself locked up at home while her family looked for a ‘suitable boy’ for her. But she didn’t let them have their way. When the Handball Federation of India picked her for the 2016 South Asian Games, the family let Khushbu go on the condition she would get married as soon as she returned.

Khushbu seized the opportunity. She cleared the Bihar police recruitment test and became the captain of the Bihar women’s handball team. By the time she was back, she was a police constable. Who could dare pressure her now? Since then, Khushbu has played at home and overseas.
