He however did not disclose as what he told prime minister. “I orally briefed prime minister about the incident of Forbesganj” Chidambaram told this correspondent.
When asked if he was satisfied with progress in investigations, Chidambaram refused to comment. He said that state government has ordered judicial probe but ‘demand for a CBI probe was going on’ in the incident.
Several organizations and parties have demanded CBI probe into the whole incident as they are not satisfied with Judicial probe order by the state government.
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Supremo Ram Vilas Paswan, also met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and asked him for a CBI enquiry into the Forbesganj police firing.
“NDA government in Bihar is terrorizing and scarring the Muslim community on a planned and systematic basis and thereby vitiating the communal harmony in the state,” Paswan told PM.
On June 3, villagers of Rampur and Bhajanpur under Forbesganj block in Araria district came out, after Friday Prayer and protested against blockade of the connecting road between the two villages for a factory. The police not only opened fire at them but chased them to their homes and killed five people including a pregnant woman and a seven-month-old infant.
