Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said, his government was working on a plan to arrive at a permanent solution to drought in many parts of the country. Addressing an election rally at Rangia in Assam, Mr. Modi said a big scheme is in the offing to bring water to parched farmlands to address the issue.
The Prime Minister said that development is the only solution of all problems. He said that the country could not progress without the development of its Eastern parts.The Prime Minister added that Eastern India, including Bihar, eastern Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam and the Northeast, would witness a second agricultural revolution.
Talking about electrification of villages, Mr.Modi said, NDA government would electrify around 18,000 villages in the next 1,000 days. While noting that Assam has around 3,000 villages without electricity, the PM said that in the last 3-4 months itself over 900 villages across the country got electricity.
He added that rest of the villages would be electrified soon.
Attacking the ruling Congress government in the state, the Prime Minister said people of Assam suffered from a shortage of sufficient drinking water despite having a river like Brahmaputra.The Prime Minister emphasised to seal Indo- Bangladesh border to prevent infiltration.
Addressing another rally at Barpeta Road, Mr Modi hoped that BJP would show a good result in upcoming polls. Mentioning his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, Modi said that some outside forces may be worried with the development but he questioned why a few sections in India are worried on this development.
The Prime Minister emphasised that development of all sections of people is the priority of the Centre.
