Maharashtra Anti-corruption bureau Thursday registered fresh FIR against former Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra and NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal in Maharashtra Sadan scam. The ACB on Monday, June 8 had registered an FIR against him and five others for alleged corruption in awarding of some contracts. The FIR was filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC sections 420 (cheating), 465 (forgery), etc.
The other five accused are – Gajanan Sawant (former sub-divisional engineer, PWD), Harish Patil (former executive engineer, PWD), Anil Kumar Gaikwad (former superintendent engineer, PWD), Sanjay Solanki (former under secretary, PWD) and M H Shaha (former secretary, PWD).
Three days after registering an FIR against the former state PWD minister and five others, the Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau Director General Praveen Dixit had earlier today said they were investigating the matter more precisely and there was no need to arrest the accused as of now. Citing a recent verdict of Supreme Court, Dixit said in such cases the accused need not be arrested immediately.
