The creator of world famous Rock Gardens of Chandigarh Nek Chand passed away today. The Padma Shri awardee, Nek Chand died at a hospital in Chandigarh following cardiac arrest. 90-year-old Chand had been ailing and was admitted to a private hospital for the past few days. The Chandigarh Union Territory administration has declared a holiday in its offices today as a mark of respect to Nek to him.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the death of Nek Chand. In a tweet, Mr Modi said, Nek Chand will always be remembered for his artistic genius and fabulous creation that is cherished by many.
