All the eight candidates fielded by ruling Samajwadi Party have won the Vidhan Parishad elections in Uttar Pradesh,. The BSP despite less numbers of votes could also muster the victory as all its three candidates have registered victory.
Lone candidate Dipak Singh of Congress has also won Vidhan Parishad seat. BJP could win only one seat while its other candidate Daya Shankar could not win. There has been reports that several members cross voted defying party line.
