The Delhi Police recovered 4.23 crore rupees in scrapped currency notes from the office of a Janakpuri businessman, who was allegedly involved in illegal currency exchange.
Police said, 35-year Anil Jain, who runs a chit-fund company, was nabbed from the Janakpuri area. The Crime Branch of Police conducted a raid on his premises and found that the money belongs to some hawala operators. They received a tip-off that some persons are getting old currency exchanged after charging 50 per cent commission.
The Income Tax Department and a Crime Branch team jointly interrogated him. Jain has been taken into custody by the IT Department and it will conduct further inquiry into the matter.
