People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has not yet indicated any timeframe to form the new government in Jammu & Kashmir. Both PDP and BJP have dismissed any rethinking on the mutual alliance.
Mehbooba Mufti continued to maintain discreet silence on the formation of government despite resuming her responsibility as the party president. Yesterday, she issued first statement after the death of her father to hail the state administration’s role in cooperating with late Mufti during his two tenures as the Chief Minister of J&K.
Meanwhile, legal experts said since the cabinet and council of ministers has ceased to exist after the demise of the elected head of the state, the Assembly session scheduled to commence from January 18 as per law itself stands cancelled.
They said the new date could be announced through Governor’s notification only after new chief minister and council of ministers take oath of office and secrecy.
