Union Agriculture Ministry has said that total foodgrain production in the country is estimated at a record of nearly 3 thousand 297 Lakh tonnes. This is higher by around 141 Lakh tonnes than the production of foodgrains achieved during 2021-22.
Final estimates of production of major crops released for the year 2022-23. As per the final estimates released by the Ministry, the estimated production of foodgrains is also three hundred lakh tonnes higher than the previous five years’ average production of foodgrains, from 2017-18 to 2021-22.
The Ministry also said the total production of rice during 2022-23 is estimated at around 1 thousand 350 lakh tonnes, production of wheat is estimated at around eleven hundred lakh tonnes and total pulses production is estimated at around 260 lakh tonnes. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the government is smoothly implementing the schemes and programs, thus everyone’s efforts are reflecting better results in the agriculture sector including record food grains production.
