North Korea today, February 19, said that it had tested a Hwasong-15 intercontinental ballistic missile yesterday.

A long-range ballistic missile was launched into the sea off Japan’s west coast after warning of a strong response to upcoming military drills by South Korea and the United States. The missile flew 989 kilometres for 66 minutes before hitting a pre-set area in open waters. Hwasong-15 was first tested in 2017.

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un’s sister, Kim Yo Jong said the United States is trying to turn the U.N. Security Council into a tool for its heinous hostile policy toward Pyongyang. She said North Korea is watching every movement of the enemy and will take corresponding and very powerful counter-action.

North Korea’s ballistic missile and nuclear weapons programmes are banned by the UN Security Council. Yet, Pyongyang continues with its weapons development and holds elaborate military parades.
