Normal life across Odisha, particularly in western districts, has been severely affected due to an intense heat wave condition, prevailing for more than two weeks.

Temperatures in most of the western Odisha towns crossed 45 degrees Celsius. While Titilagarh and Bolangir experienced above 46-degree celsius, in Sambalpur and Jharsuguda it was more than 45 degrees. 13 places of the State recorded temperature over 40 degree Celsius today.

AIR correspondent reports that during this summer, more than three dozen persons lost their lives reportedly due to sunstroke in different places of the state.

The Bhubaneswar Met office has forecast above normal temperatures in interior and western Odisha, while hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in coastal parts of the State for next few days. Drinking water crisis has compounded the miseries of people in these areas.
