Taking cognisance of press reports, Delhi Minorities Commission has issued a sou motu notice to the Archeological Survey of India asking it what action it has taken against the continuous removal of the word “Mosque” from the ASI signboard outside the monument and the claims of some local people that it is a fort of Maharana Pratap Singh.
Reports have been consistently published recently saying that the word “Mosque” is being repeatedly erased from the ASI signboard amid propaganda of some locals that this Tughlak era monument is a fort of Maharana Pratap Singh. No statement of ASI has been seen on this development.
DMC has asked ASI to explain why this desecration is committed regularly, what action it has taken so far, why ASI’s guards on the site fail to catch the culprits and what steps ASI has taken to refute the claim that the said mosque is a fort of Maharana Pratap which is a travesty of history.
