National Convener of the Women’s Wing of the Welfare Party of India, Ms. Sheema Mohsin, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Nashra Naim, Executive Member of the Fraternity Movement, on being elected Vice President of the Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union (AMUSU) for the 2026–27 academic session.

In a statement, Ms. Mohsin highlighted that Ms. Naim, a BA LLB student, has scripted history by becoming the first woman leader to hold a top executive position in the 142-year history of Aligarh Muslim University. She remarked that this triumph goes far beyond personal achievement, marking a monumental milestone for women’s leadership, campus democracy, and student politics across the nation.

Commending the university’s student body, Ms. Mohsin saluted the students of AMU for their perseverance. She noted that after years of struggle and a dedicated 19-day protest, the students successfully restored their fundamental democratic right to elect their own union after an eight-year hiatus.

Expressing immense pride in Ms. Naim’s achievement, the Women’s Wing expressed strong confidence that as Vice President of the Students’ Union, she will serve as a powerful voice for student rights, gender justice, academic freedom, and democratic values on campus.
