The Kerala government has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court against its March 20 judgement on Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, which allegedly diluted the legislation.
The state government filed the petition highlighting that post-ruling, a sense of insecurity has been rising among the SC/ST population.
The apex court, on 20th of March, introduced the provision of anticipatory bail in the act while directing that there will be no immediate arrest on any complaint filed under the law.
The Centre has already filed a review petition in the Supreme Court over its ruling in the matter.
The ruling led to an uproar amongst the SC/ST people who alleged that the Act has been diluted.
