In another incident of brutal attack on young school boys in Haryana, a Class VII boy sodomised and killed in Haryana’s faridaba district.

According to Tribune, a 23-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping, sodomising and murdering a Class VII student of a government school at Seekri village in the district almost three weeks ago.

The body of Rahul Kumar (13), who was missing since August 24, was found buried in a forest area on the outskirts of the village yesterday following the interrogation of the accused, Suraj, also a resident of the same village.

Commissioner of Police Hanif Qureshi said the body was recovered on the basis of information provided by Suraj, “who has admitted to his involvement in the crime and appeared to be the only accused in the case. The exhumed remains have been shifted to PGIMS in Rohtak for medical examination and a DNA test”.

Qureshi said Rahul, who was known to Suraj, was allegedly called outside the school premises on some pretext and offered a drink laced with an intoxicant. “The victim was taken to a nearby jungle, sexually assaulted and hammered to death before being buried”. His schoolbag has been recovered.

As Rahul did not return home, his father Ram Sagar lodged a complaint. The police had announced Rs 10,000 reward for information leading to the missing boy.

The police zeroed in on the accused after questioning several persons who rang up the victim’s father for transfer of the reward money.
Rahul was the eldest among four siblings and his parents had moved from Muzaffarpur in Bihar to Seekri in search of livelihood 15 years ago. His mother Geeta, meanwhile, has alleged that they had suspected Suraj of the crime from day one, “but the police did not pay heed”.

The accused was produced in court today, which remanded him in police custody for five days.
