Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will hold meeting with three Services Chiefs on a daily basis to review Defence preparedness and allied issues of strategic interests. Ms Sitharaman will also have daily meeting with Defence Secretary as a new practice for quick decision making.
Defence Accquisition Council meeting will be held on a fortnightly basis to ensure time bound and speedy disposal. Other areas of focus will be settling all outstanding land related issues for infrastructure projects and matters relating to welfare of Defence personnel and their families.
The newly appointed Minister has held a number of meetings with senior officials to familiarize with the activities and functioning of the Ministry and gave clear directions on critical issues. Special emphasis was laid by Ms. Sitharaman on the need to step up the pace of acquisition proposals.
