United States has dismissed that its ties with India have hit a roadblock in view of its selling fighter jets to Pakistan and New Delhi’s refusal to give visa to a religious body from US. Talking to media yesterday, US States Department spokesman John Kirby reiterated that Washington is having a good and strong relationship with New Delhi.

He said, there are a lot of common issues, common challenges and threats that the people from both the countries face. Hoping to deepen their ties with India, Mr Kirby said, the relationship with the Narendra Modi Government has been good, honest, candid and a productive one.

Ealier, India has opposed the sale of eight F-16 fighter jets by US to Pakistan, saying it disagrees with Washington’s rationale that such arms transfers help combat terrorism. Justifying its decision not to give visa to members of US Commission on International Religious Freedom, India last week said the group does not have any authority to comment on its citizens’ constitutionally protected rights.
