The Madhya Pradesh Special Task Force probing the MP Professional Exmaination Board or Vyapam scam, raided the Mahamaya Government Medical College in Ambedkar Nagar of Uttar Pradesh yesterday and arrested a MBBS student allegedly involved in the scam. A police officer said, the STF sleuths first grilled the students of the 2011- 14 batches in the college hostel. They then took one Shiv Pratap Maurya into custody for further interrogation. Maurya is stated to be resident of Jaunpur.
The medical college officials are tight-lipped over the arrest. The STF had arrested two other students of the medical college earlier. It had also picked up the students of King George’s Medical University Lucknow, the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College Kanpur and the Rural Institute of Medical Sciences Saifai for interrogation.
125 students enrolled in the various medical colleges in the state were on the STF radar for their alleged involvement in the Vyapam scam. The students had appeared in Pre- Medical Test in Madhya Pradesh impersonating as the aspiring candidate. The Vyapam scam was unearthed in 2013. The Indore bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court had ordered a probe and issued notice to Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, MPPEB as well.
