UP CM announces Rs 5 lakh reward to STF for rescuing doctor couple from Bihar
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced a reward of five lakh Rupees for the STF team which not only freed the abducted doctor couple from the clutches of its captors but also nabbed nine kidnappers. The UP STF yesterday freed the doctor couple from Gaya in Bihar who were kidnapped from Giridih Jharkhand on May 1st when they were returning home after attending some function. The abductors had kept the couple in a rented apartment in Gomtinagar, Lucknow.
Two high end SUVs including the Audi car belonging to the doctor couple, were also recovered. Besides, a huge cache of of fake number plates, police uniforms, arms and other illegal items from the premises were also recovered.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said, “It will take some time but we are investigating this from all angles. The safe return of the doctor is a challenge for us.”
In Gaya town, meanwhile, doctors and businessmen registered token protests by wearing black bands and organising a prayer meeting. “Going on a strike is the last resort. We are praying that the police will safely bring back the doctor and his wife,” said Mr Hari Prakash Kejriwal, President of the Central Bihar Chamber of Commerce.
According to the complaint lodged by the missing doctor’s brother Neeraj Gupta, the doctor last responded to a telephone call from his compounder on Friday afternoon, when he informed that he was near Barhi which is under the jurisdiction of Barachatti police station.
