British Prime Minister Theresa May has assured that her country and its European partners Germany and France remain committed to ensuring that the 2015 Iran nuclear deal is upheld.

May made the remarks in a telephone conversation with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Sunday.

May said it is in both Britain’s and Iran’s national security interests to maintain the deal.

She urged Iran to continue to meet its obligations under the pact.

May also made it clear that Britain condemns the Iranian missile attacks against Israeli forces, and called on Iran to avoid provocative actions in order to ensure peace and security in the Middle East.

Iranian forces in Syria last week allegedly fired rockets into the Golan Heights, which is occupied by Israel.

May and Rouhani agreed on the importance of continuing a dialogue between the 2 countries.
