Curfew in Gujarat towns after arrest of Patel leader sparks violence

The meeting between the Patidar leaders and state Government remained inconclusive. After more than 3 hours long meeting, Patidar leader Hardik Patel told media persons that State Government has asked 10 days time to consider our 5 points demand.

Mr Patel said they have conveyed their demands and now it is up to the Government to consider it.

Mr. Patel said yesterday’s meeting concentrated mainly on issues related to police atrocities on Patidar agitators. He said their agitation will continue till the acceptance of demand. He said Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti will organize an Eekta Yatra on next Saturday apart from five rallies during the next 10 days.

Tthe much awaited meeting was held at Chief Minister’s official residence in Gandhinagar amid tight security arrangements in which some senior cabinet ministers and senior party leaders have also participated along Chief Minister. Patidar community was represented by 21 district conveners along with their leaders Hardik Patel and Lalji Patel.

After the initial deadlocks, the meeting was held in very constructive atmosphere. According to Patidar leader Hardik Patel, the main demands raised before the Government are immediate suspension of police officers responsible for violence and lathi charge, to file cases under murder charges against policemen where patidar youths died in police firing or lathi charge, release of detained Patidar youths and no further arrest and free treatment to the injured Patidar youths and action against the doctors- who issued false reports against Patidar youths.
