The Supreme Court today questioned the Ministry of External Affairs about the delays in the extradition proceedings of Vijay Mallya.
The apex court asked the Ministry to reply by December 15 about the delay in the process.
The Court also indicated that they might summon the MEA Secretary if their orders aren’t adhered to.
Supreme Court asked Centre’s law officers to explain reasons behind non-cooperation with the court in an extradition case.
It expressed displeasure and said how can the Centre delay extradition despite the Supreme Court orders and questioned, how can court’s orders not be taken seriously?.
Mallya, who had shifted to the UK in March 2016, is wanted in India on charges of defaulting on loans from various Indian banks amounting to 9,000 crore rupees. His extradition trial begun at a court in London, UK on 4th of this month.
